🌞 Wednesday and Thursday look like they will be the warmest days of the week. Much of southern Minnesota will see high temperatures in the upper 80s with a couple of 90-degree readings.

Cheers, jeers and minds already made up at Minnesota debate watch parties

Watch parties for the Kamala Harris-Donald Trump blockbuster debate gave Minnesota voters a chance to take in the showdown alongside people with political views similar to their own. There was ample reaction to key moments — from cheering to jeering — at theaters in Minneapolis and New Hope at partisan gatherings where minds were likely already made up.

The heat is on: Indigenous led nonprofit seeks to lower heating expenses with solar thermal

Since 2018, an Indigenous nonprofit near the White Earth Nation in northwestern Minnesota has been installing solar thermal panels to cut home heating costs in impoverished communities.

8th Fire Solar get its name from the ancient Anishinaabe, Seven Fires Prophecy. It says we’re currently living in the time of the seventh fire. The prophecy says the next generation, or eighth fire, will come to a fork in the road. One path will be scorched and worn. The other will be green and untrodden.

🗣️ Harris presses a more forceful case against Trump than Biden did on abortion, economy and democracy. Harris moved to get under the skin of the former president, provoking him with reminders about the 2020 election loss that he still denies and delivering derisive asides at his other false claims.

🕯️ A 9/11 anniversary tradition is handed down to a new generation. A poignant phrase echoes when 9/11 victims' relatives gather each year to remember the loved ones they lost in the terror attacks: “I never got to meet you.” It is the sound of generational change at ground zero, where relatives read out victims' names on every anniversary of the attacks.

🪖 An Israeli strike on a Gaza humanitarian zone kills at least 19. The Israeli military said it was targeting a Hamas command and control center in al-Muwasi, west of Khan Younis, and killed three Hamas commanders in the strike. Hamas did not confirm the deaths.

⚽ Mauricio Pochettino is named the new coach of the U.S. men’s national soccer team. The Argentinian manager who has led some of Europe’s biggest clubs will now take over the U.S. men’s squad with less than two years to go before the U.S. co-hosts the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
