Minnesota abortion clinics see out-of-state demand surge, post-Roe

Minnesota was already an island of abortion access when the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade one year ago. The decision has brought new challenges as Minnesota clinics work to meet the needs of a growing list of patients from around the country.

This is part two of a five-part series from MPR News examining the state of abortion in Minnesota one year after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
 
ChangeMakers: For two-spirit legislator Alicia Kozlowski, community is everything

Kozlowski, 35, made history last fall when they became Minnesota’s first nonbinary legislator. Their path to office started with a running group for women and gender-expansive people called KwePack.

What else we're watching:
As new North Dakota laws target transgender rights, some residents live in fear. North Dakota has several new laws targeting transgender people. Among the laws passed this year are a ban on gender-affirming care for minors, restrictions on transgender girls participating in sports and limits on bathroom access and pronoun  use for K-12 students. 

Program brings farm fresh produce to incarcerated youth in Bemidji. On the menu at the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji: ham with fresh asparagus and rhubarb crisp, all made with fresh produce delivered directly from the farm. Forget what you think you know about the food served in correctional facilities; these youth are getting farm-to-table meals thanks to a Minnesota Department of Agriculture grant program designed for schools.

Bloomington is vying for a world expo to come to town in 2027. It's up against countries all over the world. Minnesota is up against Argentina, Serbia, Spain and Thailand. John Stanoch is president of Minnesota's bid committee for the 2027 world expo and he joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer to talk about it.

Here's the latest on the missing Titanic sub and the race to rescue those inside.
As of Tuesday afternoon, international rescue crews are still searching the North Atlantic for a submersible vessel that was taking five people to view the wreckage from the Titanic.
