🎧 A five-day, 40-hour workweek is the norm for many American workers. But why? What if instead of five work days, we had four? The idea of a four-day work week is gaining more and more traction. A recent pilot program in the U.K. tested four-day workweeks with fewer hours than the standard 40. The study showed positive results across the board for both employees and employers. Coming up at 9 a.m. on Monday, MPR News host Angela Davis talks with three experts about the possibility and promise of a shorter workweek.

Tax cuts likely in Minnesota session but who benefits still unknown

A massive budget surplus and pledges made during the fall campaign make tax cuts a near-certainty as the Legislature sets a new budget. But the type of relief is still up in the air, with some Minnesotans facing potential tax increases, too.

Roundabout row: MnDOT's plan for London Road in Duluth riles residents

State transportation officials are moving ahead with a plan to remake a stretch of London Road in Duluth — the gateway to the North Shore — despite many residents’ objections to one of three proposed roundabouts.

To make way for the roundabouts, MnDOT would need to raze five homes — four near the 40th Ave. intersection, and one at 60th Ave., where Elizabeth Johnson has lived for the past six years, across from a rocky beach popular with surfers and dogwalkers.

Vikings: Bud Grant, legendary coach, dies. Grant, the legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach who brought four teams to the Super Bowl, died Saturday morning at age 95. Grant was the Vikings head coach from 1967-1983 and in 1985.

U.S. takes emergency measures to protect deposits at Silicon Valley Bank. The Biden administration said customers of Silicon Valley Bank will have full access to their deposits, an extraordinary move by federal officials to backstop billions of dollars in uninsured money amid fears that the bank's collapse could lead to greater panic.
