Abandoned, stray animals flood Twin Cities shelters after the holiday weekend

The Animal Humane Society locations of St. Paul, Woodbury and Golden Valley reported a total of 74 turn-ins of stray animals Friday through Monday. On average, the locations take in about six animals a day.

The cats, dogs and other pets arrive without warning, forcing staff to figure out how to take care of them in addition to the animals they already have.

Drug makers sue over Minnesota's new prescription price controls. A trade association that represents makers of generic medicines sued Wednesday over a new Minnesota law intended to hold down prescription drug price increases.

Fourth of July chaos in Minneapolis parks ends in arrests, injuries. Authorities in Minneapolis arrested more than a dozen people, including a teenager that fired a fireworks barrage at a Minneapolis police car, during a night of chaos wrapping up the Fourth of July. 

Meta takes aim at Twitter with the launch of rival app Threads.
Meta unveiled an app to rival Twitter on Wednesday, appearing to target users looking for an alternative to the social media platform owned — and frequently changed — by Elon Musk.

July gardening tips from expert Meg Cowden. For Minnesota's gardeners, the start of July means that the summer harvest is just getting underway.

Pablo López throws 1st career shutout, strikes out 12 in the Twins' 4-0 win over the Royals. López pitched his first career shutout, a four-hitter complete with a career-high 12 strikeouts in the Twins' 4-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
