Trans pro disc golfer suing sport's top league for discrimination in Minnesota
At the start of 2023, the Professional Disc Golf Association changed rules related to gender-based divisions, banning Natalie Ryan from playing in some tournaments because she did not begin transition during puberty or before age 12.

Small wildfire near Ely is now fully contained
Officials reported that crews will continue monitoring the three-acre August Lake fire, and dousing any remaining hot spots. The fire — located about 15 miles southeast of Ely, and east of State Highway 1 — is believed to have been caused by lightning.

📷 Shutterfly closing Shakopee facility, laying off almost 250 employees
The first employees will be laid off Oct. 9 and the facility will close for good by the end of June. Since they're closing the facility, the company said these employee losses are likely to be permanent.
🦠 COVID-19 on the rise in Minnesota
Over the most recent four-week period the number of new admissions to Minnesota hospitals with COVID-19 increased by 55 percent, following drops in seven consecutive prior four-week periods.
🚰 Boil water advisory issued for city of Brainerd
A boil water advisory is in effect for the city of Brainerd, Minn., after testing found bacterial contamination in the city water system. In a statement issued Thursday night, officials said residents on city water should boil it for at least a minute or use bottled water.
