  • Sunday 97 degrees (1925)
  • Labor Day 98 degrees (1925)

In her new cookbook, Amy Thielen argues hosting should be more party than performance
Minnesota author and chef Amy Thielen is out with her third book, which she refers to as her “so-called entertaining book.” In it, she encourages hosts to drop the Martha Stewart act and reframe entertaining as the “radically casual art of cooking for others.”

This question is probably infrequently asked because the answer is, in part, a bit morbid. But the Minnesota State Fair is, at its heart, an agricultural exhibition and animals are a big part of that.

🔥 Minnesota State Fair officials offer tips for beating potential record heat this weekend
A triple-digit high temperature at the fair has only been recorded once — 104 degrees, back in 1931. The second-highest fair temperature — 99 degrees — was that same year, and forecasters say that’s within reach this weekend.
Man whose previous murder sentence was commuted faces new criminal charges
Burrell’s attorney Paul Applebaum says he has questions about the legality of the police stop, search and seizure. He said Burrell did not give the officer consent to search the SUV.  
💰 UCare to pay $100M to settle legal dispute with the University of Minnesota
Under terms of the settlement announced Friday, UCare will control a majority of board positions to address its interest in expanding services, and the insurer will make four $25 million payments to the U of M over three years.
