Public proposals start pouring in for Minnesota’s new flag and seal
The search for Minnesota’s new flag and seal is on and dozens have already submitted their designs hours after a state redesign commission opened the portal for proposals. The State Emblems Redesign Commission on  Monday launched its online submission form. Applicants will have until Oct. 30 to submit. Adults 18 and older can submit up to three designs to be considered.

🗙 McCarthy becomes first speaker removed by U.S. House vote
Congress has now entered unchartered territory. The vote has triggered a process where the Clerk of the House will refer to a list of people who can act as speaker pro tempore in the absence of speaker. That list is kept secret and will only be made public in the event that the speakership is vacant.
Bemidji police investigating alleged sexual assault of 11-year-old girl
Authorities in Bemidji are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a pre-teen girl after emergency department personnel at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center reported the Sept. 23 incident to police. Medical staff told officers that the girl said she had been sexually assaulted at a residence in the city.
🟢 🟡 John Gordon, artist who designed Packers’ ‘G’ team logo, dies at age 83
Gordon was an art student at St. Norbert College in 1961 and was working as an assistant for Packers equipment manager Gerald “Dad” Braisher when he was offered the chance to design the team’s logo under then-coach Vince Lombardi.
🌳 Some Minnesota libraries offer users chance to check out the great outdoors
Kali Freeman, the community library manager at Rondo Community Library in St. Paul, says the state park pass program opens up worlds. "We all get kind of stuck in our day to day, and there's lots of hoops that we have to jump through in order to travel anywhere,” says Freeman. The pass, she says, removes some of the monetary barriers which keep some people away from the parks.
🏈 Minnesota Vikings give diehard fans a chance to show team pride on license plates
The purple pride of Minnesota Vikings fans may soon be displayed on their bumpers.
A new Vikings-themed license plate was unveiled today featuring the team’s famed logo and a Minneapolis skyline image that includes U.S. Bank Stadium for $30 annually.
