Celebrations of Indigenous Peoples Day take place across Minnesota
The second Monday of October is now officially recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day in Minnesota. Legislation newly passed this year eliminated Columbus Day as a holiday and requires schools to observe the new holiday.

9 U.S. citizens have died in the Israel-Gaza conflict
Israeli forces launched unrelenting airstrikes into the densely populated Gaza Strip on Monday with the aim of rooting out Hamas forces. The airstrikes continued for 10 hours Monday, an unprecedented violence effecting Palestinians and Israelis.

🚨 Cass County revives search for man missing since 2009
Peter Achermann, 82, was last seen leaving his home to run errands. His vehicle was found the next day in the middle of a minimum maintenance road. Searchers will now revisit the area where his vehicle was found: the ongoing drought has provided an opportunity to search ditches and lowlands that were previously filled with water.

🚗 State Rep. Brion Curran arrested for DWI
The 38-year-old was first elected in November. According to her campaign website, Curran has degrees in law enforcement and served as a Chisago County deputy, but left the profession after suffering post-traumatic stress disorder.
