AP sources: Tom Emmer withdraws as GOP nominee for speaker
Minnesota Republican Tom Emmer abruptly abandoned his bid to become House speaker, withdrawing hours after winning the internal party nomination once it became clear he would not have enough support from GOP colleagues for the gavel.

Investigators: cause of Kmart fire undetermined
The city of Minneapolis said in a statement that investigators have finished combing through the building’s remains but were unable to figure out how or exactly where the fire started early Friday.
