Three face charges in connection with fights at St. Louis Park High School

A 44-year-old woman and her two adult children have each been charged with third-degree riot and fourth-degree assault motivated by bias. The three allegedly threatened and assaulted at least four Somali students outside St. Louis Park High School last week, prompting class cancellations and a new school safety plan.

Jury says Donald Trump must pay an additional $83.3M to E. Jean Carroll in defamation case

It is the second time in nine months a jury addressed Carroll’s claim that Trump assaulted her in 1996. Another jury last May found Trump liable for sexual abuse and ordered him to pay $5 million. This defamation trial was over things Trump said about Carroll while he was president. Trump continues to insist he was falsely accused.

😷 Hopeful downticks in Minnesota’s COVID-19, RSV and flu data
Two weeks ago, COVID, flu and RSV were surging in Minnesota. Compared to the last week in December, the first week in January — in the Twin Cities seven-county metro — showed new hospital admissions for the three diseases are down significantly, between 12 and 33 percent.
🚌 Interstate 94 closures planned this weekend in eastern Twin Cities metro

The freeway will be closed overnight this weekend in both directions in parts of St. Paul and Maplewood. It’s part of the construction project for Metro Transit’s Gold Line bus rapid transit project.
