Minneapolis City Council approves $950,000 settlement with journalists detained or injured during 2020 unrest

The journalists who were plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Minnesota allege that Minneapolis police intentionally used tear gas and rubber bullets on reporters and photojournalists covering protests or arson. They cite incidents where officers arrested journalists with press credentials or seriously injured them.

Supreme Court justices appear skeptical of effort to remove Trump from a state ballot

The court's justices on Thursday, over more than two hours of oral arguments, broadly appeared to be searching for a way to keep Trump on ballots, leaving election decisions to voters. The historic dispute comes from Colorado, where the state's Supreme Court threw Trump off Colorado's Republican primary ballot. But the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling could have national implications.

🚒 State officials say burned North Shore lodge had 3 unresolved inspection violations
A news release from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said the State Fire Marshal division performed an inspection in July and found seven violations. The agency said the property owner repaired four of them, but it is unknown at this time what role those had in the Tuesday fire.
