Whiteout conditions prompt highway closure in southwest Minnesota
State transportation officials closed a stretch of U.S. Highway 14 in southwest Minnesota today due to blowing and drifting snow, and advised no travel on some other highways as road conditions deteriorated. The closure affects Highway 14 between Tracy and Florence.

Xcel: Radioactive water leaked in November at Monticello nuclear plant
Xcel reported about 400,000 gallons of the water containing tritium leaked from a water pipe running between two buildings, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said.

💰 Revised Walz budget seeks lead pipe fixes, EV tax credit
Gov. Tim Walz tweaked his state budget proposal Thursday to add funding for a lead-line replacement push, local public safety expenses and a new tax credit to encourage electric-vehicle purchases.
🏛️ Senate GOP blocks bonding bill, sending DFL back to drawing board
The move sent Democrats, who hold a narrow majority in the chamber, back to the drawing board, and it irked local leaders and labor groups who’ve waited three years for lawmakers to approve a capital investment bill.
