On Madeline Island, residents aim to preserve their ferry lifeline
A warming climate, and the gradual loss of the “Ice Road” on Lake Superior, has made the Madeline Island Ferry an even more essential lifeline for residents and tourists. Now the town of La Pointe, Wis. is trying to buy the service to ensure it runs well into the future.

🏞 Bayport riverside residents prepare for possible flooding
There’s a nearly 1 in 3 chance flooding along the St. Croix this year will be worse than it was in 2001. About 50 Bayport, Minn. homes could be directly flooded by the river, but city officials say there’s not much it can do beyond sandbags and advice.

I put on my best sports reporter cap and headed to the big game last night in Fargo. The sold-out game topping 5,000 filled seats at Scheels Arena was electric — goal after goal after goal. After a bit of a rocky start, the Gophers scored six times in the third period (plus a hat trick!)
