I hear from people all the time who are terrified. They are deconstructing. Questioning their beliefs. Adjusting their relationship to the Church. Changing their association with religion. And they're scared. "What if I'm wrong?", they ask. I respond, "So... what if you are?" Or, "What if there is no right and wrong?" Here's the thing I learned about beliefs a long time ago: Implanted in the belief is the threat of punishment for not believing it. Beliefs are totalitarian and dictatorial. Always! You are either 100% on board and rewarded for it or 100% not on board and punished for it. Black or white. So when we question a belief we must also question its power over our lives. Because they come together, the must go together. Do you still struggle with the fear of being wrong? |
