| Happy 2024, crypto investors! Today is a great day to get your financial house in order for the new year. Here's our annual list of wealth-building tips -- and best of all, you can knock all these out in just an hour or two. 1) Check on your crypto assets. New Year's Day is a great time to log into all your accounts for an annual checkup. If you don't have proper accounting of all your crypto assets, set it up today -- either with a spreadsheet, an online portfolio tracker like CoinMarketCap, or a DeFi tracker like DappRadar. Why it works: You can't achieve financial freedom without knowing where your money is. By reviewing your current investments, you'll be more likely to add to them this year (see next tip). 2) Set up monthly auto-drip: If you haven’t already created a monthly investment account, do it now (instructions here). For U.S. readers, the easiest option is Coinbase, which lets you invest a monthly amount – whatever you can afford – so you can “set it and forget it.” Why it works: By “paying yourself first,” you can steadily work toward your goal of financial freedom, while avoiding the rollercoaster of emotions that come from investing in crypto. And by investing a little bit each month, you’ll get the average price over time. 3) Look at yield-earning opportunities: If you own popular crypto assets like Ethereum, consider storing them in a yield-bearing account, similar to storing traditional money in a high-yield CD or money market fund. Why it works: Like an interest-bearing bank account, crypto staking puts your digital money to work. If you’re HODLing anyway, you may as well gain a few extra percentage points in yield. (See our best rates here.) 4) Boost your earning potential: Freshen your skills by signing up for an online course or in-person class this year. Look for practical training (not theoretical), so you can use the skills right away on real projects, which will lock in the learning. Why it works: If you can tie your new skills into your old job, it’s a great path to a promotion. Or, you can use your skills to launch a new business or side hustle.
