Digital careers at Companies House

New requirements for importing animal and plant goods from 1 January 2022

From 1 January 2022, pre-notification will be required for imports to Great Britain of most products of animal origin, animal by-products, high risk food not of animal origin and regulated plants and plant products from the EU.

Businesses (or a representative acting on their behalf) importing these goods from the EU may be required to pre-notify authorities on the relevant IT system that their consignment will be entering Great Britain.

Register for the relevant IT system for animal and plant products now to make sure your business is prepared.

British Library's business and IP centre start-up day

Join the British Library and their National Network of Business and IP Centres online on 11 November for a full day of free talks, expert workshops and tailored advice, helping your business go green from the point of start-up.

Export Support Service

The Export Support Service is a new government service where all UK businesses can get answers to practical questions about exporting to Europe.  

It gives access to cross government information and support all in one place. 

If you're a UK business you can use this free service, no matter the size of your business or where in the UK you're based.  

The Department for International Trade will continue to work with businesses and business representative groups from all sectors, in all parts of the UK, to help make the service as useful as possible for businesses.  

You can access the Export Support Service online or call 0300 303 8955 where you will be put in touch with a member of their dedicated export support team.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) response: autumn and winter plan 2021

Ventilation is an important and effective way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Businesses are advised to:

• open windows, air vents and doors to let fresh air in
• make sure that mechanical ventilation systems are set to maximise fresh air and minimise air recirculation
• use outdoor space, where practical

The working safely guidance has been refreshed after consultation with stakeholders, businesses, unions and organisations. To help keep your staff and customers safe during winter, you should continue to follow this safe working guidance.
