Amanda Sumpter

After the crowded walls of Atelier OPEN, it's a complete change of pace to have the stunningly beautiful, contemplative work of Amanda Sumpter in the gallery.

Working first as a painter and then as an installation and performance artist, drawing has always been a constant activity for Amanda who describes it as "bridging the gap between thinking and intuition".

In 2014 a chance encounter with stone carving and letter cutting introduced her to processes that have enabled her to directly apply her intuitive way of working in three dimensions, with each carving evolving like a drawing.

Ysidro Pergamino

“Working in a medium that is reduced to just 2 colors, black-and-white, makes it critical to have a clear idea of what you want to say and cut out the rest of the bullshit. Thick bold lines demand attention. I’ve found them to be profoundly useful”

Ysidro Pergamino is a self taught printmaker, originally from Argentina. He now lives in Central Valley California. He draws and makes prints every day in between shifts driving Class A trucks. This exhibition is his first galerry show. His bold, direct strong black and white linocut prints with their political messages have already gained an strong following amongst the printmaking community in the UK through instagram.
