Global tech outage affects flights, health care, state agencies in Minnesota

The massive tech outage reportedly stemmed from a faulty software update, affecting computers running Microsoft Windows. Crowdstrike said it wasn't a hacking incident or cyberattack; the company apologized and said a fix was on the way.

Michelle Phillips has a history of successfully overseeing and auditing law enforcement she says she’ll draw on. After some administrative turnover, Phillips took office on Tuesday and is tasked with investigating discriminatory practices and police misconduct complaints while promoting civil rights understanding throughout the city.
🏥 Rainbow Health abruptly closes, shocking workers
The long-running Twin Cities HIV and LGBTQ+ health center is closing immediately, citing financial challenges. Rainbow Health offered mental health care and HIV services in downtown Minneapolis. The workers union said the news came as a surprise. Staff say the board informed them of the closure Thursday, just hours before the shutdown.
🥐 Fridley bakery closing amid strong job market
Rich Products Corporation, which makes artisan bread and packaged desserts, including for the Papa John’s pizza chain, informed the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development that layoffs are set to begin in mid-September and the plant will close no later than Dec. 31.
