Minnesota House advances change to school resource officer law

The bill would exempt school resource officers from a policy that prohibits the use of prone holds on students. They would still be restricted from using the holds — except in some situations — under their police training.

Thousands of Twin Cities janitors begin three-day strike

The workers, members of Service Employees International Union Local 26, clean more than 100 buildings across the Twin Cities. They’ve been in negotiations for months, looking for better pay and retirement benefits.

Authorities say the suspect in January’s fatal shooting at a motel in Cloquet had methamphetamine in his system, and did not have any apparent prior connection to the two victims.
