Former teacher, coach in Minneapolis faces new charges of sexually assaulting children

Aaron Hjermstad, 45, allegedly assaulted 12 different victims, all under the age of 13, between 2013 and 2021.The county attorney’s office said Hjermstad is already in prison on a 12-year sentence for sexually assaulting four other children he had coached.

🏠 Minneapolis City Council members propose grant to avoid shelter closure
Last month, the Agate Housing and Services board of directors said it would close its downtown shelter in early October, affecting more than 80 residents and 23 employees. If approved by the full council later this month, the grant would pay for half of the $3 million in needed repairs.
🥾 Popular trail on Minnesota’s North Shore reopens in time for fall color season
The Bean and Bear Lakes Loop near Silver Bay — including all of the scenic overlooks from rock outcroppings high above the two lakes — had been closed for trail work since mid-May as crews worked to address severe erosion and other issues from years of heavy use.
🛣️ Minneapolis will consider naming street after standout student athlete killed in 2022
DeShaun Hill Jr., who was 15 at the time of his murder, was the North High Polars’ quarterback and was hailed for being an academic standout. If approved, 16th Avenue North between Irving and Knox Avenues will become known as DeShaun Hill Jr. Way.
