FBI returns 'Oz' ruby slippers to owner in secret ceremony

Last month, FBI agents returned the pair of ruby slippers stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids to the Los Angeles collector who owns them. The collector lent them to the museum four times, and it was during this final loan in 2005 that Terry Jon Martin broke in, smashed the display case with a sledgehammer, and took the shoes. He left only a single red sequin behind.

Walz budget revisions focus on shoring up new tax credit, ambulance services

The revisions include $45 million more to pay for a child tax credit that goes to families based on income as well as smaller amounts to deal with high nitrate levels in southern Minnesota drinking water and a budget deficiency at the agency that runs state prisons. Ambulance services aid aimed at reducing strains in some rural communities would be boosted by $16 million.

Minneapolis Main Post Office — the iconic downtown building that has been around since the 1930s — has officially been renamed the Martin Olav Sabo Post Office, with a new plaque unveiled at a celebration Monday.  
💊 Appeals court rules in favor of woman turned away from pharmacy for emergency contraceptive
The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Monday that an Aitkin County pharmacist’s refusal to give a woman emergency contraception in 2019 was illegal sex discrimination under the state’s human rights act.
🧑🏽‍⚖️ Minnesota appeals court overturns USA Powerlifting transgender athlete ruling
In a two-to-one ruling Monday, the appeals panel overturned an earlier decision from a Ramsey County District Court judge, who had ruled in Cooper's favor. The panel stated her claims should be decided at trial.
🏀 Minnesota Gophers basketball teams earn berths in NIT, WNIT
It’s the first time the Minnesota men’s team has played in the NIT since 2014, when the Gophers won the tournament. It’ll be the seventh appearance in the tournament for the women's team (16-15), which improved from an 11-19 record last season.
💲 Trump unable to post $450M bond in New York fraud case, his lawyers say
Trump's lawyers say they've approached 30 companies through four brokers and none will accept his real estate holdings as a guarantee on the bond for $454 million and argue the judgment is unconstitutionally high. They filed an affidavit from an insurance broker saying it is "not possible" to find a bond that big.
🧶 The arts and crafts giant Joann files for bankruptcy, but stores will remain open
As part of the court-supervised bankruptcy process, Joann expects to receive $132 million in new financing. It said it will also slice its funded debt by about $505 million, but that “customers[,] vendors, landlords and other trade creditors will not see any disruption in services.”
