‘The Tessa effect’: How NCAA champ Tessa Johnson is inspiring girls in her hometown

Minnesotan Tessa Johnson helped bring the South Carolina Gamecocks the NCAA women’s championship Sunday. But just last year, the college freshman helped bring the St. Michael-Albertville high school girls basketball team a state championship. Her community is overjoyed.

Minnesota black bears are waking up early. Here’s how to keep the bears and yourself safe

The sightings have been focused in central Minnesota, from the north end of the Twin Cities up to Brainerd. It’s partly due to the unseasonably warm winter.

⚠️ Authorities investigating three deaths in Anoka County
Officers responded to a welfare check at Rum River Central Park in Ramsey around 10 a.m. They found a parked SUV with three people inside. A woman and a girl were both declared dead at the scene.
🏥 The Arizona Supreme Court allows a near-total abortion ban to take effect soon
Abortions will soon be outlawed in Arizona except in cases where a pregnant person’s life is at risk. The state Supreme Court has ruled Arizona should follow a restrictive abortion law dating back to the 1860s.
🎸 Matchbox Twenty announced in 2024 Minnesota State Fair Grandstand lineup
The alt rock band from Orlando, Fla., with Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette and Kyle Cook will perform on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $67. Sales open April 12 at 10 a.m.
