St. Cloud’s longest-serving mayor says he won’t seek another term

“January 2025, I look forward to being able to raise my hand and to swear in a new mayor for the city of St. Cloud,” Dave Kleis said. “I believe in service. But I also believe that in every part of service, it’s important to have new individuals lead.”

🚗 Highway to spell: Sign goof temporarily renames St. Paul’s Ayd Mill Road
A new sign on Interstate 35E for the St. Paul street’s exit is misspelled as “Ady” Mill Road. This isn’t the first time the Minnesota Department of Transportation made a spelling error. A sign for the town of Ogilvie, north of the Twin Cities, was misspelled as “Oglivie” last year.
🚓 Col. Christina Bogojevic to lead Minnesota State Patrol, prioritizes traffic safety and diversity
She has served in law enforcement for more than 20 years, joining the State Patrol in 2003 and becoming second-in-command in December 2022. She is the second woman to be chief of the Minnesota State Patrol in its history, after Anne Beers.
🐈 How animal hoarding is straining Minnesota shelters and spotlighting mental health
It's important to consider that one of the main reasons people hoard animals is mental health struggles. People concerned about possible animal hoarding can contact the Minnesota Hoarding Task Force, which works to educate and connect people affected by hoarding with resources. At the same time, seeing cases of animal cruelty or neglect can be tough for shelter staff and volunteers.
🎻 New Minnesota music round-up: Abstract tango from the Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet
The Addams Family television show and films had them dancing tangos; Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet's "The Conservatory" is the music they would have selected. We've also got the deets on an adventurous improvisational album and a new release with songs that balance prettiness with, as arts editor Max Sparber puts it, "yawping clangorousness."
🧊 What was that falling from the sky Friday morning? Graupel!
We may be the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but we’re also the land of every type of wintry precipitation too. How lucky are we? Many people in the Twin Cities metro area saw something white falling from the sky Friday morning, but at closer inspection noticed it was neither snow nor hail. Is it sleet? No. The answer is graupel!
