🌷 Feels like spring! Most of the state will be dry with light rain showers lingering in northeastern Minnesota for the rest of the day. Temps are back into the upper 60s in western and southern Minnesota. Get the latest on Updraft.
Minnesotans honor the state’s Japanese American veterans

Generations of military veterans gathered at Fort Snelling’s cemetery today to honor Minnesota’s Japanese American veterans — including 99 people who are buried there. Fort Snelling was home to a linguistics school, where about 6,000 people were trained in Japanese language.

Minnesota officers killed in duty, including those killed in Burnsville, are honored during National Police Week

President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 and designated the entire week as National Police Week. Support for law enforcement has been visible this week, with Gov. Tim Walz ordering flags fly half-staff Wednesday.

🛒 The Supreme Court upholds the funding structure for the consumer protection agency
The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the manner in which the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is funded. The opinion was written by Justice Clarence Thomas, who reversed the decision of the 5th Circuit. Justices Neil Gorsuch and Samuel Alito dissented.

Crookston police said the man was shot after he “rapidly approached” officers while swinging a hatchet.
