🚨BCA: Man fired ‘without warning’ as Burnsville cops tried to get him to surrender
Police officers inside a Burnsville house early Sunday tried for more than three hours to get Shannon Gooden to peacefully surrender before he opened fire on them  “without warning,” state investigators said Thursday.
❤️ Josie Johnson, iconic Minnesota civil rights activist, on hope and her legacy
From a childhood in segregated Texas, Johnson moved to Minnesota in the 1950s and became active with the Minneapolis Urban League. She worked behind the scenes to pass Minnesota’s fair housing law, making housing discrimination based on someone’s race illegal in the state, well before it was prohibited under federal law.
📱 AT&T says its cellphone network restored after a widespread outage hit users across the U.S.
Outage tracker Downdetector noted that outages, which began at about 3:30 a.m. ET, peaked at around 73,000 reported incidents. AT&T had more than 58,000 outages around noon ET.
🚆 Metro Transit plans to increase officials on light rail routes
Starting Friday, agents will check fares, share information about routes and schedules and remind riders of train rules, like not smoking. They’re also getting training to connect people to social services if they need it.

“He did a lot of good and I’m just hurt to see he won’t be around to do any more good because I know he had a lot more in his heart was full of it,” former classmate and friend Logan Marquez said. “All we can we do is just remember … all the good he did accomplish while he was here with us, and there was a lot he did.”
