Update on bird flu in Minnesota as pathogen spills into other populations

Millions of birds around the country are being culled by farmers as an outbreak of avian influenza, or bird flu, continues to spread — and infect other species like cattle.

Minneapolis toddler dies in shelter under suspicious circumstances, police say

Police were called to the Higher Ground Catholic Charities shelter near downtown Minneapolis around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of an unresponsive child. Officers found the two-year-old unresponsive in a room with drug paraphernalia around her.

🏛️ Lakeville man charged with killing pregnant sister
23-year-old Jack Joseph Ball is charged in Dakota County. He’s accused of killing and dismembering 30-year-old Bethany Ann Israel of Bloomington, who was more than four months pregnant.

Supreme Court justices decide for themselves whether to sit out a case and the only potential consequence for refusing to step aside is impeachment by the House of Representatives and removal from office by the Senate. That has never happened in American history.
🥩 Authorities urge proper cooking of wild game after 6 relatives fall ill from parasite in bear meat
The six — one in South Dakota, four in Minnesota and one in Arizona — became infected when bear meat that was served rare turned out to be contaminated with roundworms that cause trichinellosis, also known as trichinosis.
