Jury convicts five of seven defendants in the Feeding Our Future trial

A jury in Minneapolis on Friday convicted five of seven defendants in the first trial to follow the sprawling federal investigation into the Twin Cities nonprofit Feeding Our Future. After five weeks of trial proceedings, U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel made the rare move of jailing the defendants amid an allegation of jury tampering.

At Wildfire Academy the next generation joins a firefighting lineage


This week the Minnesota Incident Command System hosted its annual wildfire training in Grand Rapids. Student firefighters learned the fundamentals of power saws usage practicing on precut tree-stumps.

🏠New report highlights racial gaps in homeownership and housing across the state
A new report shows the wide gaps in home ownership and the cost burden of housing across racial lines. The report from the Minnesota Housing Partnership looked at rents and homeownership rates in all 134 legislative districts.
🗺️ Northern Minnesota communities brace for possible Canadian border workers strike
Northern Minnesota communities are bracing for a possible strike among Canadian border workers just as the busy summer tourism season gets underway. More than 9,000 Canada Border Services Agency employees had authorized a strike to begin at 3 p.m. Central Time on June 7 if a new contract agreement wasn’t reached.
🚱Meetings planned on nitrate contamination in southeast Minnesota water
State officials will hold public meetings in southeastern Minnesota this month. The Minnesota Department of Health says private well owners can learn more about what's being done to address health concerns over nitrate levels in drinking water.

🕺Arts Briefs: Breakdancing finds a home
The closure of the Cowles Center in Minneapolis in March left Twin Cities dance company BRKFST without a home for their new performance. The 10-year-old breakdance-inspired company is now performing at The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
