Happy weekend! Severe weather is possible overnight in far southern Minnesota. The weekend continues to look dry and cooler than normal with highs mostly in the 70s. Northern Minnesota likely will only see highs in the 60s Saturday. Enjoy it! Get the latest on Updraft.
Eyes on Mississippi River as flood cleanup continues across Minnesota

The flood fight and cleanup continues in areas that saw creeks, rivers and lakes spill over their banks after torrential rain in the past week. The Minnesota and Mississippi rivers were still rising Friday closer to the Twin Cities.

🗣️ Walz, Minnesota DFL leaders stick up for Biden after debate showing opposite Trump
Gov. Tim Walz said Trump might have done better in style but Biden delivered more substance. “I think it’s clear that neither candidate had a very good night. President Biden could certainly have performed better and President Trump could tell the truth once in a while.
📊 Floodwaters and bird flu continue to rise in Minnesota, COVID remains low
COVID-19 hospitalizations ticked down again in this week’s update from the department of health. But more recent data indicates another increase in hospitalization numbers occurred subsequent to the downtick.
🌧️ Multiple climate stations report wettest June in history for their region
Because rainfall was so frequent, ground soil, especially in northeastern and southern counties, was drenched. That saturated dirt and surplus rain led to wide swaths of flooding across the state. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley about the record-setting rain in their weekly weather chat.
