A Message From the Editor I’m going to assume our readership tends to travel a lot. I’ll also assume that more than a few had their personal information on Marriott’s Starwood reservation system. And that means that you, like me, aren’t totally sure what elements of your personal information are currently floating in the ether. It’s a dangerous cybersecurity world out there, one that’s rapidly changing even by the week. Our Rhys Dipshan took a look on Monday at some of the major players that could influence cybersecurity standards moving forward, and one thing that stood out to me is that just about everybody has a stake in the game. With so many cooks in the kitchen, is it even possible to have a viable outcome? I’m no oracle, but I’d say that it has to be. Otherwise, more sleepless nights like those following the Marriott breach are inevitable, and that’s not tenable no matter who you are—corporate legal departments, their internal clients, or the wider sphere of ultimate consumers. – Zach Warren, editor-in-chief, Legaltech News |
