A Message From the Editor I’m currently writing this note from St. Paul, Minnesota. The closest ALM office to me is either the one outside Denver or Cincinnati, I’m not quite sure. Sitting here with my two canine co-workers, I’m the quintessential case of a remote worker, something I’ve been doing for about three years now—which is why even though I’m not at a law firm, a piece from our Victoria Hudgins this past week even gave me pause. Noted Cynthia Thomas Calvert, a lawyer and president of Workforce 21C, “We forget that we do need to have the small talk and conversations that will lead to deeper relationships in the firm.” For all the flexibility remote working provides, like many technological advancements, it’s a matter of give and take. I’m happy working remotely, as I’m sure many attorneys are, but it pays to be aware of its shortcomings as well. Our Editor’s Picks this week examines all sides of the debate, taking a look at remote work and more. – Zach Warren, editor-in-chief, Legaltech News |
