#1 YouTube Bringing 360-Degree Video to the Big Screen
Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, announced Wednesday at the Google I/O conference that the company plans to bring 360-degree video to the TV screen.

#2 Google Partners with HTC, Lenovo to Deliver Standalone VR Headsets
Google announced today at its I/O Developer Conference that it has teamed with HTC and Lenovo to build new, standalone virtual reality headsets that will launch sometime later this year and lean on Google's Daydream platform.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Everything will be built into those products, meaning they won't have to be tethered to a high-octane PC or gaming console, or have to work in tandem with a compatible smartphone. The aim is to remove friction for consumers who want a high-end VR experience.

#3 Sling TV Taps SpotX for Programmatic Advertising
Dish-owned OTT TV service Sling TV has tapped SpotX's video ad serving platform to offer programmatic advertising functionality to advertisers and agencies.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Previously, Sling TV advertisers could target based on daypart, genre of content and broad age and gender demos just like regular TV. Now, advertisers can target specific customer segments common to internet advertising such as "vacationers," "auto-intenders" and later this summer "back-to-school."

Quote Of The Day

"I have a good feeling about Hulu. They are doing a lot of things right, the recommendation-based interface, in particular. That changes the equation and creates a library-based system rather than a linear one. That's a huge change takes us from 'What's on now?' to 'What do you want to watch now?' Plus, if you currently have ad-free Hulu, your total cost is lower as it's included in the service. And because the networks own Hulu, they'll be able to keep those carriage and retrans fee disputes to a minimum."
