#1 YouTube Reveals a New Slate of Original Shows
YouTube has unveiled a slate of original content built around major stars such as Kevin Hart, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Ludacris. The new shows will all carry advertising and be on the main YouTube platform, not the subscription-based Red service.
WHY THIS MATTERS: According to reports, the company will fund more than 40 original shows and movies in the next year, spending hundreds of millions of dollars. YouTube is betting high-profile stars will attract more advertisers.

#2 Apple TV May Soon Offer Amazons Video App
According to a report from Recode, Amazon and Apple are close to a deal that would put an Amazon Video app on Apple TV boxes.
WHY THIS MATTERS: The app could arrive in the third quarter of this year, allowing Apple TV users to finally watch Amazon Prime videos on TV without using AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad as a workaround. The deal between Apple and Amazon might also lead to other changes. Amazon, for example, stopped selling the Apple TV in 2015 because it didn't support its Prime Video service.
