Newsletter ZEISS Nature Observation.
Dear John Do,
Those who observe birds now in the northern hemisphere belong to the truly dedicated community of birders. You need good warm clothes, but as soon as you start watching fieldfares, waxwings, long-tailed tits or goldcrests framed against the white frost or snow you just forget the cold.

Others longing for warmer fields just read the following articles and put themselves into the warmth of Israel.
Nature saves me
Noam Weiss heads one of the most well known nature centers in the world: the center in Israel’s Eilat, one of the most interesting resting areas for birds of migration between Europe, Asia and Africa. His start in life was not an easy one. The fact that Noam is a well-balanced person today is due to his forays through the woods and to bird watching. Learn more about his life and his exciting work..

Travel group towards the south
On the long migration southwards birds are quite clever to fly as energy-saving as possible. The formations of cranes are perfectly adapted to the individuals in the flock: at the top you find the strong, experienced birds and at the sides of the V-formation the families fly with their young stock. Besides groups of one species there are also social associations of different species to fly to the south together. Read more about the different behavior of bird migration.
