There's a concept in Zen known as Shoshin or "Beginner's Mind". That encourages students to stay open minded and continually revisit the basics of their craft... ...No matter how advanced or successful they become. And the importance of this concept was perfectly illustrated to me last week on a quarterly planning call with my team... ...Where I asked for ruthless feedback on my leadership. Because the answer I received was NOT what I was expecting. In fact... ...It was probably the LAST thing on my radar. "Craig" my team said, "You do a great job of leading by example and making all of us feel appreciated and respected... BUT... ...We're don't have the clarity we need from you to make the progress we want." The reason this surprised me so much is because... ...Clarity is what I'm KNOWN for as a coach. Sure... I help my clients with marketing, copywriting, advertising, leadership, team building and everything else that goes into building a 7-figure business. But the biggest success stories always come when I help clients get MASSIVE clarity on exactly what they want and how they're going to get it. Like when I helped my friend and client Vince DelMonte triple his income (during a pandemic) by shutting down two of his three businesses... ...And going all in on the "one thing" he really cared about. Or my friend Frank Den Blanken who I coached from $130k/year to $300k/MONTH... By using my 90-day blueprint to get massive clarity on the mechanics of growing his business. So when my team said my biggest shortcoming as a leader... ...Is the exact thing I'm known for as a coach. It was a tough pill to swallow. But it was also an invaluable learning opportunity for me. The thing is... ...When you reach bigger and bigger levels of success. It's easy to ignore the basic principles that got you there in the first place. Even when... You teach those exact same principles to the people you serve. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you are different or special because you're more advanced. That what you really need is some new strategy or fancy tactic... ...Instead of brushing up on the basics that drive massive results at every level. And even though I have clarity on what I want to accomplish with our business... ...I haven't communicated that clarity to my team. Which is something I'll be working on in the coming weeks. And my challenge to you is to think about how you've lost your "beginner's mind" in your own life or business. What are the foundational habits, practices, and systems you think you've "outgrown" and need to revisit? Maybe you made your first 6-figures and then abandoned the morning routine that helped you achieve success... ...And need to recommit to a consistent ritual to help you bring in new business and grow your income. Maybe you started #crushingit with paid ads and driving front end sales... ...But your revenues are stagnant because you forgot about the importance of follow up and optimizing your back end. Or maybe you think you're too advanced to "waste time" on the foundations of goal setting, 90-day planning, and creating a clear vision... ...And need to revisit the basics of success to help you get to the next-next level. Whatever it is... Take action on it this week. And be sure to reply to this email and let me know how it goes. To Your Success, Craig P.S. If you want my help getting clarity on YOUR life and business... ...And want access to the same tools and strategies I've used with more than 260 of my millionaire clients. I've still got a few spots left in my Q4 "Millionaire Coaching" program. It's only open to BUSINESS OWNERS doing at least 6-figures in revenue. So if you qualify... Just hit reply and let me know a little bit more about what you do, what your goals are, and what obstacles are stopping you from success. I can't wait to coach you to the next level. |
