Monday

Hebrews 11:11

It was by faith that Sarah together with Abraham was able to have a child, even though they were too old and Sarah was barren. Abraham believed that You, God, would keep Your promise.

Tuesday

Hebrews 11:12

And so a whole nation came from this one man, Abraham, who was too old to have any children–a nation with so many people that, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

Wednesday

Hebrews 11:13

All these faithful ones died without receiving what You, God, had promised them, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed Your promises, God. They agreed that they were no more than foreigners and nomads here on earth.

Thursday

Hebrews 11:14-16

And obviously we people who talk like that are looking forward to a country we can call our own. If I had meant the country I came from, I would have found a way to go back. But I was looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why You, God, are not ashamed to be called my God, for You have prepared a heavenly city for me.

Friday

Hebrews 11:17,18

It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when You, God, were testing him. Abraham, who had received Your promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, though You had promised him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.”

Zingers from Croft M. Pentz, Tyndale House Publishers

4176. Accurate knowledge is the basis of correct opinion; the want of it makes the opinions of many people of little value.

4177. A lot of people will be unhappy in heaven when they discover that it is not the exclusive property of one denomination.

4178. The longest leap in the world is to jump to a conclusion.

4179. Prejudice is being down on something you are not up on.

4180. Fanatics don’t change their minds and won’t change the subject.

In 1978, Zig Ziglar christened his new office building (at the corners of Alpha and Omega) by establishing the Monday Morning Devotional. He invited his staff, his family, his friends and associates to attend as often as they wished. Many non-staff quickly became “regulars,” and all made contributions to the success of the event.
