I cling tightly to my faith in You, Christ, and always keep my conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked. Hymenaeus and Alexander are two examples of this. They were turned over to Satan so they would learn not to blaspheme you, God.

I am urged, first of all, to pray for all people. As I make my requests, I plead for Your mercy upon all, and give thanks.

I pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that I can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases You, God, my Savior.
