| In 2023, NCMEC assisted law enforcement, families and child welfare professionals on 28,886 cases of missing children, with a recovery rate of 88%. One of those recoveries was Majesty Williams, who was just four years old when she was abducted by her non-custodial mother in 2021. In partnership with REELZ, we aired Majesty’s story on “On Patrol: Live”, which led to her reunification with her father. Read more about Majesty’s story here. NCMEC’s forensic artists age-progressed 137 long-term missing children and created 39 facial reconstructions for unidentified deceased children in 2023. |
| In 2023, NCMEC’s CyberTipline responded to 36.2 million reports of suspected online child sexual exploitation. Here are a few of the trends we saw: 99% of those reports were related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being shared online. From 2021-2023, we've witnessed an increase of more than 300% in reports concerning online enticement, including continued growth of alarming trends such as sextortion and generative AI (GAI). NCMEC provided 42,761 instances of training to child-serving professionals to help strengthen their response to missing and exploited children. |
