Plus, in Utah, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says he’s running to "reverse the decline" in the country.
Good morning! Here are today's temperatures: ☀️ 61 - 100° in Logan ⚠️ ☀️ 76 - 104° in Salt Lake City ⚠️ ☀️ 81 - 112° in St. George ⚠️ ⚠️ Excessive Heat Warning The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup is finally here! This is my favorite sporting event of all time. I watched the U.S. beat Vietnam last night, and I'll be watching all of their games as well as every other game played at a decent hour (I'll be sound asleep during the 3 a.m. games). This World Cup will be a little different with 32 teams playing in the tournament for the first time, meaning there are more games to watch than ever before. Also on our mind: Kyle Whittingham's future, where to watch fireworks for Pioneer Day and how some states help families with the high cost of diapers.

| | Are Utahns happy at work? A new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll found that 90% of Utahns are either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with their current employment. The No. 1 factor for Utahns' job satisfaction is workplace relationships. Of the respondents, 37% said their relationships with coworkers is the job-related characteristic they’re most satisfied with. For those dissatisfied with their employment, compensation was the biggest source of dissatisfaction. How does Utah compare with the rest of the nation? The percentage of satisfied Utahns is significantly higher than the national percentage. A survey by The Conference Board found that 62.3% of Americans are satisfied with their jobs. | Presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference at the Utah state Capitol on Friday during his second visit to the state this year. The governor emphasized that Republicans won't "get a mulligan in 2024," or a do-over. He also laid out his platform and said he was running to “reverse the decline” in the country. “Our country is in decline,” he said. “We see it, we feel it. I don’t think that that decline is inevitable. I think that decline is a choice.” DeSantis commented on Gov. Spencer Cox's "Disagree Better" initiative, "Bidenomics" and Florida’s Black history curriculum, which has received backlash. Six protesters stood outside the room DeSantis was speaking in, protesting the controversial language of the curriculum, which says that middle school students should learn "how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit."
