We’re excited to announce the catalogue for our next auction of Books, Coins and Stamps is now available to browse on our website. The sale commences at 10am on Wednesday 24th July with viewing open to the public on the 22nd and 23rd July. This auction has been carefully collated by specialists Chris Moore, Derek Ainsworth and Andy Neal with over 300 lots. Book collectors will be especially enamoured by a ‘Peacock Edition’ of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’. This copy is a first edition, published in 1894, with a beautiful gilt peacock design on green cloth and gilt edges. Coin department highlights include a Oliver Cromwell silver half crown dated 1656, estimated at £4,000 - £5,000 and a nicely presented three coin set of Kingdom of Tonga coronation commemorative coins, 4th July 1967. A particular lot which should excite the curiosity of philatelists, is an entire letter from Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother, Lucien, of postal, historical and literary importance, with a Shrewsbury connection, estimated at £350 - £450.
