MEDIA LOSER: Keith Olbermann Former MSNBC star Keith Olbermann demanded that Donald Trump be “seized,” thrown in a “stockade,” and tried in a military court over his Truth Social post calling for the termination of the Constitution. Trump made the remark after reporter Matt Taibbi posted a Twitter thread that suggested the platform made a clear effort to censor the New York Post's Hunter Biden laptop story. In a Saturday Truth Social post, the former president went on to claim that Taibbi's thread proved “massive fraud,” the magnitude of which “allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.” Olbermann responded to Trump's shocking rant with one of his own, writing, “Send a military detachment to Mar-a-Lago, seize him, detain him in a stockade or brig, and try him in a military court.” He added that Trump's post is “an open attempt at a Revolution to overthrow the government.” Trump has since tried to walk back his call to terminate the Constitution, lashing out at the media in yet another tirade on Truth Social. Olbermann responded with his own lengthy social media post, which included a strange video preview of the Tuesday episode of his podcast, Countdown with Keith Olbermann. While Trump's call to terminate the very document that laid the foundation of American democracy is disturbing -- and merits appeals for accountability -- meeting those calls by suggesting a private citizen be thrown in a "stockade" is a bit extreme. It's also ridiculous to suggest Trump would be tried in military court over a social media comment. |
