Subscriber only: Airport officials have finalised a deal to offer Canberra travellers a new destination, with Tasmania looming as the most likely spot.
Titled Desiderium, the large-scale light sculpture will be installed at the City Walk entry to Monaro Mall.

Who would have thought that the Canberra Airport terminal was not fit for use as a dog kennel? This was the thought of the Opposition whip Gil Duthie 53 years ago, as reported in The Canberra Times. Speaking during the department of the interior estimates, Mr Duthie described the terminal building as a "dog box". He called it "an Alcatraz" and an "architectural monstrosity".
