Newsletter Headlines ECRI Institute released its annual top 10 list of technology-related issues that hospitals and health systems should pay close attention to over the next 12–18 months. The NFPA believes building and life safety professionals should keep an eye on two trends from the list: acuity-adaptable rooms and microhospitals. Looking to reduce workplace violence in the healthcare industry, IAHSS released a new Threat Management Guideline that stated that "healthcare facilities should establish a process and multidisciplinary team to identify, assess, validate, mitigate, and respond to threats of violence or other behaviors of concern.” Remember to provide fall-protection training to any worker at your facility who may be exposed to a fall of more than 4 feet and ensure contractors are also meeting the safety requirements under the newly revised OSHA standard. In addition, any fixed ladders over 24 feet must be equipped with fall arrest or safety systems.
