Singapore-based unicorn rakes in additional funding: Garena, a Singapore-based company that makes mobile gaming, e-commerce, and payment apps, announced this morning that it’s raised $170M in Series D funding at a $3.75B valuation. The round was led by the Khazanah Nasional Berhad (the Malaysian government’s strategic investment fund), which counts Skyscanner and WeLab among its recent big bets, and brings Garena’s total funding to $500M. Startup studio and incubator Expa raises $100M. Expa, the startup studio led by Foursquare co-founder Naveen Selvadurai and Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, announced the close of a $100M fund yesterday from investors including TPG’s David Bonderman, Sir Richard Branson and SV Angel. Part of the new fund will go toward Expa Labs, a new incubator that will offer six applicants $500K in funding and six months of office space in either SF or NY.
