The Nasdaq rallied 1.9% on Thursday as markets rebounded from the previous day's losses. The S&P 500 gained 1.3%, and the Dow advanced 1.0%. The small-cap Russell 2K gained 1.1%. Today, futures look wobbly in today's trading session, but S&P 500 contracts are showing a 0.1% gain. Tilray [TLRY] - Last Close: $6.97 A flurry of cannabis M&A is lifting shares of Tilray.
Several pot companies recently announced mergers and acquisitions, and the market seems to suspect Tilray might be next. On Thursday, Cresco Labs agreed to acquire Columbia Care, and Aurora Cannabis said it would buy out Terra Farms. The pot sector is also running hot on news the US House of Representatives is preparing a bill that would end federal prohibition of cannabis. TLRY soared to a 21.9% gain on Thursday when those new stories broke, and the stock carried its momentum into the after-hours trading session. TLRY is trading actively with a 13.3% gain in today's premarket. Clever Leaves Holdings [CLVR] - Last Close: $1.58 Clever Leaves is up after a strong earnings release. The pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoid producer reported a net loss of $24 million on revenues of $4.2 million in Q4, marking 25% sales growth from the year-earlier quarter. Clever Leave's full-year sales increased 27% to $15.4 million in the firm's full-year 2021, but its net loss also grew by 76%. CLVR is up 31.47% on active trading volume. STRATA Skin Sciences Inc [SSKN] - Last Close: $1.57 STRATA Skin Sciences is moving higher on news of bullish insider buying. The medical technology company disclosed two notable insider buys after Thursday's closing bell. CEO Joseph Moccia acquired 33,300 additional shares of stock, bringing his total ownership stake to 1.67 million shares. Director William Humphries also made an acquisition of 14,783 shares, and he now owns a total of 467,490 shares. SSKN is trading with a 16.6% gain in today's premarket. Tiziana Life Sciences [TLSA] - Last Close: $1.110 Tiziana Life Sciences is trending after the company hit a key clinical milestone. The company announced today that it's initiating a Phase 1B clinical trial to evaluate oral capsules of foralumba in Crohn's Disease patients. The fully-human anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody. Tiziana says it expects the Phase 1B clinical trial to be completed by Q4, 2022. TLSA is up 4.5% on news of the clinical progress. |
