| | 2023 has been another year jam-packed with innovation as beverage brands look to stay ahead of the curve in 2024. Top of mind this year has been how digital tech will transform the industry – from AI in beverage development to VR in consumer experiences. Meanwhile, the latest trends in functionality and flavor (as well as the longevity of fan favorite pumpkin spice!) are topics that consistently resonate with BeverageDaily readers. Sustainability remains a key issue. Packaging continues to hold the focus: as brands look to challenge the status quo with alternative pack formats, and with packaging specialists continuing to push forward with technological breakthroughs. But brands and consumers alike are also thinking about the wider picture when it comes to sustainability: whether that be what ‘carbon negative’ really means, or the surprisingly wide-reaching potential of upcycling byproducts. Looking ahead to January, and we’ll once again be tracking the buzzing no/low alcohol market very closely: expect to hear a lot more about the innovations in the category – and how this sector is predicted to evolve in the coming years.
