Thankfully, northern California’s most-recent fires spared Harbin and Middletown. So many in our wider community, though, lost lives, homes, and property. And for many of us here, even though we were spared physically, the emotional toll of smelling smoke, seeing flames, gathering papers and possessions, being on alert to evacuate... in the words of one longtime Harbin resident, “It triggered a lot of unresolved PTSD.” If you are someone who was directly impacted by these most-recent disasters, please know that our tender hearts are with you. And like you, we look forward to the moment when Harbin reopens, and we will again be able to be here for you. Now more than ever, the world needs what Harbin offers... and we continue working hard to bring Harbin back. Tree Campaign Update
We are delighted that, since our reforestation campaign began in July, Harbin friends and guests like yourself have donated almost $85,000 to support this ecologically vital work. Our intention for the coming planting season is to focus our efforts on the new trails we’ve cut in the hills above and around Harbin’s mainside area. We anticipate clearing significant dead timber, and planting the new saplings that will ensure the stability of the slopes, and the future beauty of our new hiking trails and hillsides. We invite you to consider a tax-deductible contribution now in support of this current phase of the program. |
