Consumer confidence is up and inflation is cooling, so why is ecommerce in the doldrums? Caila Schwartz, Salesforce’s director of consumer insights and strategy for retail and consumer goods, says price-conscious buyers are waiting for the discounts they know are coming. “Q4 is the biggest time of the year for retail,” she said. “What’s happening now is that shoppers are doubling down on essentials and lower-priced goods and they’re waiting to make [non-essential] purchases until later in the year.” She has more on that, as well as marketing tips, in her interview with Kim Davis.
