Are You Risking Compliance?
The growing organic market presents new opportunities for both domestic and international businesses, and the resulting supply chains often expand and become more complex. For over 20 years, USDA has protected the farms, businesses and consumers who invest in the organic market. Regulatory changes being implemented for operations across the industry through Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE) are increasing that protection. The SOE final rule affects almost all operations that produce, process or otherwise handle organic products and requires more operations in organic supply chains to be certified—including importers, traders and certain brokers. SOE increases farm to market traceability and requires electronic import certificates for traded organic products, empowering business owners to verify compliance within their own supply chain. You can avoid several violations of the organic standards by making sure your supply chain partners are certified and ready to comply under the SOE final rule by March 19, 2024. |
