QUOTE OF THE DAY Brigham Young "We have more friends behind the veil than on this side, and they will hail us more joyfully than you were ever welcomed by your parents and friends in this world; and you will rejoice more when you meet them than you ever rejoiced to see a friend in this life; and then we shall go on from step to step, from rejoicing to rejoicing, and from one intelligence and power to another, our happiness becoming more and more exquisite and sensible as we proceed in the words and powers of life " (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young, p. 282-283). TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY August 7 1844 - It is recorded in many testimonial statements and personal histories that during the afternoon meeting, Brigham Young was transfigured and had the appearance and voice of the Prophet Joseph while he was speaking. The transfiguration was a witness to many that the mantle of Joseph had fallen upon Brigham Young and he was the Lord's choice to lead the Church in the absence of Joseph Smith.
