"It was too much -- school was too much, living in a shelter was too much, worrying about the day-to-day was too much," Blake McClellan admitted in his valedictorian speech. And while Blake overcame those challenges as a teen experiencing homelessness to graduate at the top of his class, not all kids in his situation are so lucky. In Michigan, nearly half of homeless students fail to graduate from high school. Educators say they don't have adequate resources to support these students, who statistics show are the most vulnerable in the state.
